The hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs finds himself in the midst of controversy once again as allegations from the past come back to haunt him, all while dealing with a lawsuit from his former partner, Cassie.

Kimora Lee Simmons, now 48, had a spotlight moment in a 2004 New York Magazine profile, where she attended the Manhattan City Center’s benefit performance of “The Owl and the Pussycat” along with an accompanying event. However, it was an incident from her past involving Diddy that caught the public’s attention.

The interview mentions a previous encounter where “Kimora said something to Combs and he threatened to hit her.” Simmons added, “And I was pregnant! The moron!” According to the profile, Diddy, now 54, eventually had to publicly apologize and even got down on his knees to do so.

At the time, Simmons shared her perspective on her relationship with Diddy, saying, “I respect him for being a fierce entrepreneur, and I appreciate knowing that everything he does is emulating my husband.” (She was married to Baby Phat founder Russell Simmons from 1998 to 2009).

This resurfaced incident gained renewed attention on social media following Cassie’s lawsuit against Diddy, filed on November 16. In court documents, Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, was described as “a victim of sex trafficking” and made shocking allegations of abuse, including physical violence, drug coercion, and being forced into sexual encounters with male prostitutes on camera by Diddy.

Breaking her silence, Cassie stated, “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”

Cassie and Diddy had an on-again, off-again relationship that spanned 11 years until their breakup in 2018. Cassie has since moved on with Alex Fine, whom she married in September 2019. The couple shares two daughters, Frankie, 3, and Sunny, 2.

Diddy, through his lawyer Ben Brafman, vehemently denied the allegations outlined in Cassie’s lawsuit. Brafman stated, “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations. For the past six months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail.” He further added, “Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’s reputation and seeking a payday.” The legal battle continues.
