The Iron Claw is set for its December 22nd release, and the pro wrestling world is already brimming with excitement about this upcoming project. Zac Efron stars in the telling of the Von Erich story, and although it is a dramatic, and somewhat tragic, tale, the cast was able to have fun while filming the project.

Zac Efron stars in the new film The Iron Claw, and he raked up some quality stories in the process. From training with Chavo Guerrero Jr. to a crash-course in pro wrestling history, the High School Musical star is a long way from East High. The songs may still follow him wherever he goes.

During a Q&A session at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, The Iron Claw star Stanley Simons started singing High School Musical songs while the crew was filming a party scene. Simmons explained, “I sung [some of ‘Breaking Free’] to Zac when I was playing my music scene. That was definitely a life experience that I’ll never forget,” Simmons stated, although Efron wasn’t too impressed with the singing.

“When I was singing the song, he was like, ‘Oh, you’re not hitting it, you’re not hitting it.’ I was like, ‘Oh,’ and I redid it. And I think I did a good job!” Stanley Simons added.

Zac Efron shared an interesting tidbit about the filming experience for The Iron Claw. He mentioned that his fellow cast members decided to infuse some fun into the set by singing classic tunes from High School Musical.

“I do remember that being one of the most fun days of filming that we had. Filming a house party could go one way or the other. It’s a lot of people that are stuck in one room for many days, it can be kind of daunting. But this one was just electric. It felt like a high school party in a really rad way. It was really special.”

Stanley Simons shared that the atmosphere during the house party scene was electric and reminiscent of a high school gathering. It seems that the stars started to resemble the family they were portraying.

“We really bonded and got to hang out. When we got on set it just felt natural. They were really welcoming to me, not just my brothers but all the cast members. So it was a little nerve-racking, but they just were very open.”

The Iron Claw is a film that tells the compelling story of the Von Erich Family of wrestlers, and a famous one at that. Fans have wanted an honest telling of teh Von Erich Family’s story for decades, and now they will see it on the silver screen.

MJF, who wrestles for AEW as their current World Champion, also stars in the film. It seems that the production did everything they could to add legitimacy to the story. The family vibe and close-knit nature of the pro wrestling business may also shine through as fans attend the screenings.

Let’s get to know each other. Me? Well, I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Marshall University, but I don’t really like to talk about that. I was a stand-up comedian for eight years, but I don’t really like to talk about that either. I write a lot. I once worked for a company that writes blurbs for online gambling games. Those paid $.75 each. So, if you frequent that kind of thing, then you’re welcome for the description for Biker Chicken Slots or Crazy Granny’s Scratchers. I wish I had more to tell, but due to my crippling anxiety and Tourette’s Syndrome, that has become increasingly worse over the years, I tend to keep to myself.
