Following the Season 2 finale of “Loki,” Tom Hiddleston made a guest appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon and dropped a bombshell of his own – this marks the end of his 14-year journey with Marvel. Fallon welcomed Hiddleston as his first actor guest post-SAG-AFTRA strike, and the crowd was buzzing with anticipation.

Careful not to give away any spoilers, Hiddleston tantalizingly shared, “If you haven’t seen it, I will not spoil it for you, but I will say this: It all comes full circle.” The audience let out an intrigued “ooooh.”

“It’s the conclusion to Season 2. It’s also a conclusion to seasons 1 and 2. It’s also the conclusion to six films, and 12 episodes, and 14 years of my life,” Hiddleston revealed.

He reminisced about being cast as the villain (later turned antihero) Loki at the age of 29 and how he’s now 42, marking a remarkable journey. Hiddleston hinted at the finale, saying, “I do think, in the finale, there are echoes and resonances of every version of Loki that I’ve played.”

He also drew attention to the title of the finale episode, “Glorious Purpose,” harking back to Loki’s famous line in the first “Avengers” film. Hiddleston explained, “And he’s arrogant, and he’s hubristic, and he’s entitled, and he’s puffed up, and he’s going to take over the world. And then, you know, it doesn’t go so well for him — we’ve all seen ‘Infinity War.'”

Reflecting on the beginning of “Loki” Season 1, Hiddleston praised Owen Wilson’s performance as Mobius, calling him the “best ever.” He emphasized how Mobius helped Loki see that his “glorious purpose” was a fallacy and that he was granted a second chance. Hiddleston found the show’s exploration of purpose relatable, saying, “I think we all wonder if we’re in charge of our own story… Do we have any free will?”

He delved deeper into the show’s themes, discussing how choices inform one’s purpose in life, no matter how small they may seem. Hiddleston pondered, “And I think all of us, as people, want happy lives, but we also want lives with a purpose. And that’s really what the show is talking about… In the end, it comes back to meaning, and identity, and family. Which is really what Loki’s always been about — it’s always been about purpose and family.”

As for fan theories, Hiddleston teased connections between “Loki” Season 2 and other Marvel projects, including “The Marvels.” He also entertained questions about Miss Minutes and the possibility of her controlling everything, giving a cryptic response.

When asked if “Loki” Season 2 sets up other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects like “Deadpool 3” or “Avengers: Secret Wars,” Hiddleston played coy and avoided revealing too much. Similarly, he didn’t provide a definitive answer about whether Loki could use his time-slipping abilities to find Tony Stark/Iron Man.

The actor lightened the mood by sharing his experience playing in the Soccer Aid for UNICEF game, where the world triumphed over England. Even on the soccer field, he couldn’t escape his MCU persona, joking about using his magical powers.

With “Loki” Season 2 wrapped up, fans are left eagerly anticipating what’s next for both the character and Tom Hiddleston’s Marvel journey.

Tom Hiddleston’s tenure as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has come to an end, marking a significant chapter in his career.
