Jansen Panettiere, the younger brother of Hayden Panettiere, was discovered unresponsive by his friends on February 19 during Presidents’ Day weekend in New York. However, the cause of his death has now been made public.

Jansen’s death was caused by an enlarged heart, according to a statement the family released on Monday morning. “Though it offers little solace, the Medical Examiner reported Jansen’s sudden passing was due to cardiomegaly (enlarged heart), coupled with aortic valve complications,” the family told ABC News.

The late artist’s personality, talent, and kindness were also remembered in the statement. “Jansen’s heart could be seen in his eyes,” said Jansen’s family, which includes his mother Lesley Vogel, father Skip Panettiere, and sister, “Scream VI” star Hayden.

“His charm in his brilliant, engaging smile; his soul in his masterful and revealing paintings, and the joy of life in his dry wit.

His charisma, warmth, compassion for others, and his creative spirit will live forever in our hearts and in the hearts of all whom he encountered.”

However, on the day of the artist’s death, Jansen’s friends hurried to his house after he missed their business meeting on February 19. One of Jansen’s friends reportedly discovered him “sitting upright in a chair, unresponsive.” The friend performed CPR while dialing 911.

This news brings a sad moment for the Panettiere family, as they mourn the loss of their beloved family member. He was just 28 year old. May his soul rest in peace.
