Roman Reigns is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling right now. He has been the Undisputed Universal Champion for a long time now and continues to rule WWE with an iron fist. Despite being The Rock’s cousin, Roman Reigns has carved his own path in professional wrestling. In fact, Reigns didn’t want to be a shadow of The Rock.

Wrestling fans were eagerly anticipating a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania for a long time. The WWE even hinted at the possibility of this match for a while, and only increased the excitement among fans who were looking forward to seeing these two superstars face off in the ring.

However, the match will no longer be taking place at the Show of Shows. The Rock simply couldn’t be ready in time to wrestle at WrestleMania 39. Roman Reigns even defended The Rock for being ready to compete at the event.

While speaking to Bill Apter, Ricky Steamboat talked about Roman Reigns’ growth over the years. Steamboat simply stated that Roman Reigns did not want to be a shadow of The Rock.

“He was the kind of guy who would open up and try to do anything that would make him better. He didn’t wanna be a shadow of The Rock, and he had a Hollywood movie star face. And that was a big plus right there for the girls. But very tight family man, with his family, his kids, very tight.”

WWE also knew for months that The Rock wouldn’t be able to make it for WrestleMania 39. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether The Rock and Roman Reigns will eventually duke it out the next year.
