Dwayne Johnson has become one of the most successful and highest-paid stars in Hollywood following his breakout role in the 2001 superhit flick “The Scorpion King.” The Rock has not been a regular in-ring performer for WWE for the past two decades. In 2004, Johnson’s contract with WWE expired following which he began his full-time acting career, and the rest is history.

Throughout 2022, The Rock was rumored to face undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39. However, last month it was reported that there was no way for Johnson to compete against his cousin at The Showcase of Immortals this year. WWE was also said to have been aware of The Rock’s negative status for WrestleMania 39 for quite some time.

Dwayne Johnson recently walked the red carpet at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The Great One was also spotted interacting with celebrity singer Adele in a clip that has gone viral on social media.

The Rock’s absence from the WrestleMania card caused WWE to find a new main eventer in Cody Rhodes. On January 28th, The American Nightmare won the Men’s Royal Rumble match at the Alamodome and punched his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania 39. According to fan theories, Rhodes might be the chosen one to dethrone The Tribal Chief at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, unless WWE wants Reigns to walk out of California with both titles.

Last month, Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions was among the fan favorites to purchase WWE from Vince McMahon. Not only is The Rock one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, but he was also the face of WWE at one point alongside Stone Cold Steve Austin.

For what it’s worth, the WWE Universe will have to keep waiting for Dwayne Johnson’s return to the squared circle. At this point, it doesn’t seem like The Rock is ready to step in between the ropes anytime soon.
