The Oscar Awards ceremony last year became memorable for all the wrong reasons. This is because Will Smith shockingly slapped Chris Rock following a joke about Smith’s wife. The incident is still being talked about to this day. That being said, Smith is busy with his life now. In fact, he was supposed to be a surprise performer at this year’s Grammys.

Will Smith has been banned from attending the Oscars for the next 10 years. Will Smith finally apologized for the slap, almost ten months after it happened. Many believe Smith deserves the ban.

Even then, Smith is still a welcome guest at The Grammys. In fact, Smith was supposed to be part of a tribute, but had to decline due to production on his latest project, Bad Boys 4.

While speaking to Variety, Questlove revealed that the ‘Independence Day’ star was supposed to be part of the festivities at the Grammys. However, Hollywood obligations ensured he couldn’t take part in festivities.

I’ll give the spoiler alert away. Will Smith was a part of the festivities tonight, but they started shooting Bad Boys 4 this week.

There were a lot of preliminary shots that he had to do, so we had to lose Will.”

He added that he knew getting Will was “a shot in the dark,” because the actor is “always shooting movies.”He said the tribute “had a lot of people, and some of them have other jobs,” adding that Ice-T, Queen Latifah and L.L. Cool J are all participating in the tribute but had to “leave their respective shows” to join.

It was going to be 23 minutes long, but is now 14 minutes. Regardless, it’s a shame that Will Smith could not be a part of the tribute show.
