Talib Kweli has been pretty vocal about the series of events that almost got him arrested. He revealed that it was American Airlines that escalated the situation to such an extent.

The rapper shared the ordeal on social media, posting several videos of the escalation. Kweli explained how a flight attendant not realizing his bag was able to fit under the seat almost got him locked up. In one video, viewers can hear the rapper explaining why the bag fits securely.

“Yesterday afternoon @americanair threatened to have me arrested for no reason at all. After clearing my bag with the gate agent, flight attendant Sky Seaglass tells me my bag is too big and I must check it. I asked why, so he got annoyed and called his supervisor. The supervisor tells me it’s her decision whether I fly or not. That’s an important detail.”

The Brooklyn native didn’t have a video of his interaction with Seaglass. The clips begin with the supervisor and a very calm Talib explaining why his bag should be fine. Later on, a flight supervisor comes about and addresses Talib that disobeying them would lead him to jail.

“The supervisor sees that the attendant Seaglass was wrong about my bag and walks me to my seat and says I’m good to fly. Moments later the supervisor comes back and tells me that if I do not obey the flight attendant while in the air, I will go to jail. The whole time, Seaglass, who I’m not talking to at all, is telling people he feels ‘unsafe.’”

Kweli was later told to leave the plane by the supervisor. He also enounces that kicking him out of the flight will be a violation of human rights but it fell on deaf ears. The rapper was also told to stop recording and sit as everyone exited the plane.

3 policemen came on the spot and agreed with Talib on his stance. They also mentioned how the cabin crew was wrong to say that they can arrest him. This finally led to the situation simmering down at last.

This is not the first time rappers have faced such a hostile reception from American Airlines. YG, Wale, and Boosie Badazz are some of the people who faced similar issues on an AA flight. We can only hope that tough situations to be handled wisely by crews in a plane.
