A tragedy occurred at the Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama on Saturday, as an American Airlines employee was killed in a workplace incident.

The employee, whose identity has not been released, was a baggage handler who was working on the ramp at the time of the incident. Details about the specific incident are not completely know however, The Federal Administration Aviation said the worker was killed on the ramp where American Airlines Flight 3408, an Embraer E175, was parked. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

American Airlines expressed their condolences for the employee’s family and said that they are focused on supporting their team members during this difficult time.

“We are devastated by the accident involving a team member of Piedmont Airlines, an American Airlines regional carrier, at Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM),” the airline said in a statement to FOX Television Stations. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and our local team members.
