The Weeknd’s fame in the music industry has reached unimaginable heights. Obviously, there is plenty of data to back up the claim. The Weeknd’s record-breaking reign continues, with another Spotify record establishing him as one of the most successful musicians of all time.

According to Chart Data, the Canadian superstar has surpassed all artists in Spotify history in terms of monthly global listens. The Weeknd has surpassed Ed Sheeran, who previously held the record with 82.40 million monthly listeners. The Weekend now has 94.734 million monthly listeners.

@theweeknd has broken the all-time record for most monthly listeners among all artists in Spotify history (94.734 million).

Justin Bieber (81.43m), Taylor Swift (81.21m), and Ariana Grande round out the top five (77.18m). The “Starboy” hitmaker hasn’t reacted to the achievement, but he did retweet Pop Crave’s tweet about it. The announcement comes just a few weeks after The Weeknd’s 2019 single “Blinding Lights” became Spotify’s all-time most streamed song.

“Blinding Lights” has eclipsed Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” to become the most streamed song in the streaming platform’s history, surpassing the British singer’s “Shape of You” for the second time. The Weeknd himself was also one of Spotify’s most-streamed artists in 2022.

The Weeknd also acknowledged another new achievement, becoming the third artist overall and the first Black artist in Spotify history to have ten songs with over one billion streams. You can check out the tweet below. Keep an eye on Thirsty for more.
