Keyshia Cole Reacts To Fan Accusing Her Of ‘Degrading’ Her Late Mother

Keyshia Cole has experienced many highs and lows in her life, including the finalization of her divorce from Daniel Gibson, her breakup with Niko Khale, and the deaths of both of her parents. However, she was recently called out for ‘degrading’ her late mother Frankie Lons while developing a biopic on her.

The Jasmine Brand revealed in November 2022 that Lifetime had begun shooting a movie about Cole’s life. Her tumultuous relationship with her biological mother, who passed away in July 2021 as the result of what appeared to be an overdose, would be depicted in the film.

On Friday, a Twitter user who had apparently just learned about the production expressed her disapproval of the “Heaven Sent” singer’s choice to document her life.

“I said it! As soon as @KeyshiaCole momma died she was going to used [sic] that opportunity as she always does and make it work for her. Now she is making a movie about Frankie she always degrading them for her benefit”

Keyshia Cole reacted immediately, denying the idea that she would even think of dishonoring the memory of Frankie Lons in any way. She also informed that a new song honoring the late reality star will be included in the as-yet-untitled biopic.

The singer tweeted,

“Degrading my mother. ? I wanted the best for my mom. You prefer my story not be my story? At times I have too. But my truth is my truth. I just live mine loud. (while some suffer in silence. But This will come wit all that I do, So speak YOUR TRUTH, but yours ain’t mine. [heart emoji]”

She continued,

And I’m addition to that I have recorded a record that will be in the movie dedicated to my mother. (You all may or may not like it) but….. This movie was healing in some ways for me, so very appreciative of having this happen.”

Despite the fact that addiction and adoption caused a rift in their relationship, Keyshia Cole and her mother were able to resolve it and they even had a reunion. Stay tuned to Thirsty to get more updates regarding the singer.
