Hugh landed his breakthrough role as Wolverine in the 20th Century Fox X-Men film series. He received various awards including two Tony Awards, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Jackaman recently discussed how he now regrets leaving his role as Logan.

Marvel Studios already revealed several movies and television projects for Phases 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic-Con and D23. Despite all the prior announcements, the most thrilling one may have been when Reynolds and Jackman jointly revealed to the public that Wade Wilson and Wolverine would reconnect in Deadpool 3 following the underwhelming X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Jackman initially put an end to his role as Wolverine after playing the renowned X-Men mutant in the critically praised Logan, which marked the end of his 17-year adventure. Even though Logan died at the end of the movie, Jackman will somehow reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, which will be wholly produced by Marvel Studios.

Wade will make his official Marvel Cinematic Reality debut in the Deadpool 3 prequel, although it is unclear how Reynolds’ character will transition from one universe to the next. It’s also unknown which Wolverine will make an appearance in Deadpool 3.

In a recent interview with Variety, Jackman discussed his decision to end his nearly two-decade run as Wolverine. At first content with his choice, Jackman later admitted that he genuinely regretted it after viewing Reynolds’ first Deadpool film and contrasting it with 48 Hours. After watching the movie for no more than 20 minutes, Jackman realized he might have given up too soon.

I went to a screening of ‘Deadpool.’ I was 20 minutes in, and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it!’ All I kept seeing in my head was ‘48 Hours’ with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here. I think, actually, he’d given up. I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, ‘I can’t believe the timing of this.’

The likelihood of production indicates that further Deadpool 3 casting announcements will be released in the upcoming months. In the end, what will be fascinating to see is whether there will be further MCU crossovers with established characters turning up in the film as Reynolds becomes a permanent presence in the Avengers-centric universe, in addition to Wolverine’s reunion with Deadpool.
