Fetty Wap has worked hard to establish himself as one of hip-hop’s most popular rappers, a position he has kept for many years. Despite this, he had his fair share of controversies. Fetty will now be sentenced for a federal drug charge in a few months.

Fetty Wap’s sentencing date in his drug trafficking case has reportedly been set. The Paterson, New Jersey rapper will be punished on January 18, 2023, according to court records obtained by AllHipHop. Joanna Seybert, Senior United States District Judge, will sentence him.

In August, the 31-year-old pled guilty in Long Island Federal Court to conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. The charge carries a mandatory minimum jail term of five years and a maximum of 40 years. Prosecutors characterized Fetty Wap as “a kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization” following his arrest, along with five others, before his Rolling Loud New York performance in October 2021.

During their investigation, the FBI obtained $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilos of cocaine, two kilograms of heroin, fentanyl tablets, pistols, handguns, and a rifle. “The pipeline of drugs in this investigation ran thousands of miles from the West Coast to the communities here in our area, contributing to the addiction and overdose epidemic we have seen time and time again tear people’s lives apart,” FBI assistant director-in-charge, Michael J. Driscoll, said in an October 2021 statement.

The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a corrections officer as part of the conspiracy illustrates just how vile the drug trade has become. I want to commend the work of our Long Island Gang Task Force and our law enforcement partners for working day in and day out to get these deadly drugs off our streets.

Fetty Wap was arrested in August for a December 2021 FaceTime call. While out on a $500,000 bond, he reportedly threatened to kill a guy during that facetime. By doing so, he violated the terms of his parole as well as New Jersey state law, and Magistrate Judge Steven Locke sent him to jail.
