Peacemaker Season 2 Shooting Starts Very Soon

Peacemaker enabled the expansion of the DC Extended Universe into HBO Max storytelling. An effort that was created and primarily directed by James Gunn. However, he has recently provided an exciting Peacemaker season 2 filming update and revealed that the production is going to start soon.

The HBO Max series was a follow-up to The Suicide Squad. It followed John Cena’s titular character as he’s engaged in yet another operation for A.R.G.U.S. to find parasitic aliens called butterflies. Because of the action scenes, the performances from its cast, which included Cena, Danielle Brooks, and Freddie Stroma, and Gunn’s distinctive humor and writing, Peacemaker received similar critical praise as The Suicide Squad.

HBO Max quickly approved Peacemaker season 2 with Gunn resuming to write and direct all-new episodes, the number of which has not yet been disclosed. And now Gunn has some good news for the show’s viewers, almost a year after the renewal.

Gunn recently shared a number of BTS pictures from the making of Peacemaker on Twitter to honor star Danielle Brooks’ birthday. Gunn also provided a Peacemaker season 2 filming update in the post’s caption, stating that filming would begin in “just a few months.”

The update comes as viewers worry about the show’s future in light of HBO Max’s controversial restructuring by Warner Bros. Discovery. The DCEU Batgirl movie, Scoob! 2, and a number of animated and scripted projects have all been canceled as a result of the restructure. Despite this, Gunn had already stated that Peacemaker season 2 would be safe during this unsettling time, thus his filming update served as an additional reassurance of the show’s comeback plans.

Gunn said that he was already working and in the writing process on the show’s upcoming chapter. Gunn previously stated that season 2 will start filming in early 2023, and his latest post appears to hint that he and his Peacemaker team will be returning as early as January.
