Flordia Governor Ron Desantis may be popular among conservatives in the state due to his hardline controversial policies, but his latest move is causing an uproar. Especially at a time, he’s up for re-election.

CNN reports that DeSantis sent two planes carrying 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday night, infuriating Democratic politicians, and activists and causing a backlash among humanitarian aid by locals and assistance by federal officials. The latest move by a Republican governor to move migrants to northern liberal states like Massachusetts, Martha’s Vineyard, is unusual and unexpected places for the migrants to be sent. Accusations of human smuggling are coming in, but no official inquiry has been launched at this time.

Now, #RemoveRon is trending on Twitter. Plenty of people are upset over this latest development as they all used this hashtag, among others like “DeSatan,” to make their points.

“I am informed by experts on the subject that the crime Ron DeSantis committed yesterday was human smuggling rather than human trafficking—two terms often conflated in major media (e.g., ABC News just yesterday). Apologies for the confusion. Ron DeSantis is a criminal. #RemoveRon”

Gov. Ron DeSantis claims credit for sending 2 planes carrying migrants to Martha’s Vineyard. He used taxpayers $$$ for this STUNT. Vote him out! Vote him out! #RemoveRon

“The entire world watching in disgust at what unchecked, out of control fascist Ron DeSantis is doing. Florida, it’s all on us to stop this. #RemoveRon #DeSatan #DeSantisIsAFascist”

“Today’s cruel stunt by Ron DeSantis sickens me. He doesn’t represent my values as a Floridian. It’s not the role of Governor to decide who can stay. Immigration is federal jurisdiction. Human rights violation. Waste of taxpayer funds. Abuse of power. #RemoveRon”

“We are not a sanctuary state, and it’s better to be able to go to a sanctuary jurisdiction, and yes, we will help facilitate that transport for you to be able to go to greener pastures,” DeSantis said on Thursday, a day after claiming credit for sending the two planes to the island. “Every community in America should be sharing in the burdens. It shouldn’t all fall on a handful of red states.”

“Trump Afterbirth Ron DeSantis is going to try to spin his sickening stunt as “relocation.” Remember who else did that? #DeSatan #RemoveRon #DeSantisIsAFascist”

DeSantis will face off against Charlie Christ for his governorship in re-election on November 8th. It’s going to be a fight for Ron, but his one saving grace is the fact that he is Governor of Florida.
