The divide between Aries Spears and Lizzo appears to be growing nowadays. Fans all watched Lizzo make a flippant remark a few days ago, which has now sparked a controversy among the artists. Now, Aries Spears reacts to Lizzo’s VMA speech as he wonders, ‘Was she talking about me?’

Aries Spears responded to Lizzo’s 2022 MTV Video Music Awards speech, which many fans believe featured a subtle dig at him. While speaking to VLAD TV, the former MADtv comedian denied that Lizzo’s statements about her “haters” were a direct response to his interview a few days earlier, in which he body-shamed the “Truth Hurts” singer and called her “the sh*t emoji.”

“Well, the funny thing to me was people sent me those videos and clips, and you know, this is the internet. People put sh*t together, ‘Lizzo claps back at Aries,’ she never said my name.”

Aries Spears continued, allegedly fat-shaming Lizzo while noting that he isn’t the only perpetrator when it comes to people utilizing the Grammy Award-winning singer’s weight as the punchline for bad jokes.

“Now, was she talkin’ about me? Put the pieces together. More than likely. But she never said my name and I ain’t the only mutherf*cka making Lizzo fat jokes. So, she was addressing all of her haters.”

“I almost wish she did say my name to really make it specific, but she didn’t say my name! And you know what’s funny to me, too, ’cause you know, the women that hit me up in my Instagram was like ‘Yeah… I know you mad, huh? You punchin’ the air!’”

On August 28th, while winning a VMA award for her track “About Damn Time,” Lizzo allegedly responded to Aries Spears’ comments earlier this month by flaunting her victories and thanking her devoted fans.

“[Your vote] means everything to make a change in this country. So, remember when you’re voting for your favorite artists, vote to change some of these laws that are oppressing us. Now, to the b*tches that got something to say about me in the press … I’m not gonna say nothing! Why don’t you clap back? Because bitch, I’m winning.”

Lizzo later backed up her accusations in a tweet, claiming that she didn’t address a single individual in her previous speech. She made it plain that she took her statement seriously.

“Lemme make one thing VERY clear—I wasn’t addressing anybody in the my speech last night…I was addressing EVERYBODY.”
