Johnny Depp walked away the big winner in his highly publicized trial with Amber Heard. Amber was hit with a multi-million dollar judgment that she must pay to her ex-husband. While Depp won the day, he was still found responsible for $2 million in damages to Heard.

Amber Heard recently filed an appeal in the case. Not to be outdone, Johnny Depp is also appealing. However, he’s only appealing the $2 million judgment against him.

After Amber’s appeal was filed, Depp’s legal team said they were confident that the initial verdict would stand up. Now they are going on the offensive. According to the New York Post, Johnny Depp is filing a counter-appeal in Fairfax, Virginia.

The move is meant to make sure the court includes his side of the story in the appeals process. The $2 million is a very small sum from where this all started. Depp originally sued for $50 million, claiming Amber Heard made disparaging remarks that hurt his career in a Washington Post op-ed.

Amber’s countersuit was to the tune of $100 million. Ultimately, only $10 million in damages were found. Depp’s team contends that Heard cost him much more than that.

It seems as though Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are heading toward yet another court battle. The appeals process can take a while, and there is no timetable yet for a trial. Johnny Depp is hoping that the second time around, he can recover even more of what he believes he is owed.
