As Americans have gone back to their normal lives, a lot of people are no longer thinking about the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite a return to a mostly normal reality, the virus is still circulating in communities around the nation. Now, a second United States President has tested positive.

According to ABC News, Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. Biden is experiencing “very mild symptoms.” He is being treated with the antiviral Paxlovid.

Close contacts of President Biden are already being informed. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre issued a brief statement on the matter. Biden will still be participating in his planned meetings via Zoom.

“He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence.”

The president will isolate until he receives a negative test. His most recent test was on Tuesday when he tested negative. The President is fully vaccinated and has received two booster shots.

It does not appear as though Joe Biden is in any immediate danger. Donald Trump had to be rushed to the hospital after becoming ill with the virus. Hopefully, President Biden recovers quickly and can get back to normal soon.
