Kim Glass is a volleyball star, who won a silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Despite her achievements, she just had a terrifying experience. She was attacked by a homeless man this weekend in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, Glass also described how the event nearly cost her an eye. She revealed that the incident took place on Saturday. It happened when she was leaving a restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles with a friend for lunch.

Kim disclosed this through a series of videos uploaded on her social media page. Glass stated that while she was leaving the restaurant, she observed a man on the street holding something.

“He just like looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes. And as I turned to go tell my friend, ‘I think something’s, like, wrong with him and I think he’s going to hit a car,’ before I knew it, a big metal bolt, like pipe, hit me right here.”

“It happened so fast.”

The 37-year-old claimed the man threw the thing at her from a distance of several feet. It slammed right into her eye socket and nose bridge, inflicting severe injury. Her eye was nearly swelled shut, and her face was bloodied in her videos, which were recorded a day after the incident.

She stated in the clips that she suffered multiple face fractures that required stitches to repair. Glass also revealed that doctors do not believe the event will permanently affect her vision. She also expressed gratitude for all the support she’s received from friends and family since the tragedy, and expressed relief that things didn’t turn out worse.

“Just be safe out there. There’s a lot of mentally ill people on these streets right now and you shouldn’t have to be fearful when you walk but it’s true. And, so, you guys just be safe.”

Glass, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter, played for the United States Women’s National Team for several years after a strong career at the University of Arizona. She also modeled in her spare time, appearing in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

The Olympian said that others restrained the guy she accused of throwing the object until police arrived. There was no indication of whether the individual was eventually arrested. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
