Top Gun was released on May 16, 1986, and eventually became a cult classic. Only a few days after their blockbuster sequel crossed the incredible $1 billion mark in box office receipts, Miles Teller has disclosed he has spoken with Tom Cruise about shooting a third “Top Gun” film. “Top Gun 3” might be prepared to launch soon.

Teller shared the information with “Entertainment Tonight,” adding, “I’ve been having some conversations with him [Cruise] about it. We’ll see. That would be great, but that’s all up to T.C. It’s all up to Tom.” Millions of “Top Gun: Maverick” fans who have crowded to theaters to watch the summer blockbuster, which has also impressed reviewers, will no doubt be thrilled by the thought of another part.

Teller, who portrays pilot Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw in the action-packed film, claimed that Cruise will ultimately decide whether “Top Gun” will be expanded into a sequel. Director Joseph Kosinski of “Top Gun: Maverick” stated last month that Cruise truly didn’t wanted to” make a follow-up to the 1986 action movie. Kosinski persuaded Cruise, nevertheless, that the movie would be a hit, and the “Mission: Impossible” actor subsequently used his extraordinary power to aid in getting the film made. Kosinski recounted Cruise adamantly informing the Paramount Pictures president on the phone,

“We’re making another ‘Top Gun.’” It was pretty impressive to see the power of a real movie star in that moment

In fact, Cruise’s decision to play the fighter pilot once more is wise, as “Top Gun: Maverick” became his best-performing movie to date. It reached $1 billion in box office revenue recently, making it the most successful movie globally so far in 2022. The action film outperformed the $943 million worldwide gross of Disney’s Marvel adventure “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
