The United States Supreme Court recently struck down a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion by overturning the landmark Roe v. Wade decision. There have been major protests in cities across the nation. Major celebrities have not been shy about sharing their opinions on the matter.

Selena Gomez doesn’t want to see Americans take the court’s decision lying down. The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ star was one of those who used her voice to speak out for the right to choose. Gomez spoke to Variety, where she emphasized the fact that men need to take action, too.

“It’s about voting. It’s about getting men, men needing to stand up and also speak against this issue. It’s also the amount of women that are hurting. I’m just not happy, and I hope that we can do everything in our power to change that.”

Selena Gomez also took to social media to share resources with those who want to make a change. She tweeted a link for fans to donate to Planned Parenthood Action. Selena also expressed no ambiguity in her belief in legal and safe abortion for all.

Fifty years of precedent disappeared with the stroke of a pen when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. An already divided nation watched what many believe to be a fundamental women’s health right torn away. Selena Gomez thinks men need to join the fight.

The decision will be on the ballot for American voters this year. Control of Congress is at stake, and the last hope for safe and legal abortion seems to be legislative action. Selena Gomez wants everybody to keep that in mind as we head towards a very consequential election.
