Over the last few days, D.L. Hughley and Mo’Nique have been swapping blows at each other. D.L.Hughley and Mo”Nique are in a contract disagreement which resulted in making the headlines. D.L. Hughley recently broke down Mo’Nique’s claim, and Mo’Nique retaliated strongly in return.

It all started when Mo’Nique complained about D.L. Hughley’s featuring slot at their comedy performance a few days ago. Hughley was called out on stage by Mo’Nique, who claimed that she was meant to be the night’s headliner. Hughley later retaliated, claiming that Mo’Nique was inflaming the situation and fabricating a story. As a result, Mo’Nique demanded receipts from him.

“STOP MESSING WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER MESSED WITH YOU AND WHO ONCED CONSIDERED YOU A COMRADE IN COMEDY. BUT I THANK YOU DL BECAUSE YOUR YOU’RE THE REASON WHY I FIGHT FOR MY PEOPLE LIKE I DO. ANYTIME YOU OPENED FOR THE KINGS OF COMEDY, AND I WAS THE HEADLINER FOR THE QUEENS OF COMEDY AND YOU THINK YOU SHOULD CLOSE THE SHOW OVER ME IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF THE BIAS THAT BLACK WOMEN HAVE TO DEAL WITH IN THIS BUSINESS.”

D.L. Hughley complied with Mo’Nique’s request a few hours later, sharing images of his contract, which plainly said that he was intended to be the evening’s closing act. Hughley should also be the highest-paid artist at the event and have the ultimate say over the lineup, according to the deal.

“RECEIPTS > OPINIONS. I GOT EVERYTHING THAT WAS STATED IN MY CONTRACT… EVERYTHING. BUT LET’S SAY I DIDN’T, MY BEEF WOULDN’T BE WITH ANYONE BUT THE PROMOTER AND/OR MY TEAM AND I DAMN SURE WOULDN’T MAKE IT PERSONAL. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, TAKE IT UP WITH MANAGEMENT AND BY THAT I MEAN YOURS,”

In response to providing the receipt by D.L. Hughley, the comedian returned the favor by providing some of her own. The Precious actress went to Instagram to share her point of facts. The 54-year-old noted that her contract had already been signed, although Hughley’s had not.

“There were some of you who were fooled by the smoke and mirrors of D.L. posting his ‘Deal Memo’ versus his ‘Performance Agreement. Here is my Performance Agreement and here are emails and texts confirming that, as per usual, I’m going to always keep it real and honest with my people.”

“What type of iron-clad agreement doesn’t have the signatures of the participants involved? Apparently D.L’s. Lol!”

“Now, you told me to check with my management and this is what I came up with, so how’d I do? Perhaps you should have taken your own advice because I’m sure your team would have advised you against trying to pass a deal memo off as a contract.”

“To those out there who thought a deal memo was the same as a performance agreement (especially some of the comedians) this is how we’re constantly taken advantage of by the business.”

“And, just so you know, the promoter already told my team before the show that you didn’t have a signed agreement, that’s why I’m not surprised you’re using a deal memo. That said, maybe they lied and you actually have a contract,”

“If so, the promoters have put themselves in a terrible position to have more legal action taken against them, beyond malicious concealment for breaking the contract at the last second. That said, D.L., we the people will be waiting for your signed agreement.”

Mo included her signed contract, an email with a PDF of the run of the show, another email with the same information. Also when she walked into after a minute arriving at the theatre, she witnessed a schedule revealing Hughley as the evening’s penultimate entertainer, in the carousel she shared to her Instagram feed.

Lots of controversies have been sparked because of the wrong perception getting out there. What are your thoughts on this matter? For further updates stay tuned to Thirsty.
