Pete Davidson is one of the most popular celebrities in Hollywood right now. He is known to not mince words when it comes to expressing his opinion regarding anything as well. He also ended his ‘SNL’ stint in a way only he knew how.

There is absolutely no doubt that Pete Davidson is one of the most integral members of the long-running show. Davidson is also arguably one of the most successful performers outside of Saturday Night Live. Last year, he hinted at a departure from the show. This week’s episode was his final bow on that famous stage.

It was confirmed that Pete will end his stint with the show this week. Davidson appeared alongside Colin Jost on Weekend Update to reveal that he is really leaving. He joked that it’s because Lorne Michaels “gifted” him a sock (just like Dobby in Harry Potter, who then became a free elf).

Pete Davidson proceeded to thank everyone on the show for the wonderful memories and opportunities over the years.

“I never imagined this would be my life. Look at me when I started here — back then I was just a skinny kid and no one knew what race I was,” he went on. “Now everyone knows I’m white because I became hugely successful while barely showing up to work. Look at me now — I’m aging like an old banana. And Colin still looks like the only Kennedy that doesn’t drink.

Yeah man — Lorne accidentally gifted me a sock so I’m now free.

Lorne for sure — he’s amazing. He’s led us through the COVID era — even though the only time he wears a mask is at his Eyes Wide Shut parties. He always gives me the best advice,” he joked. “I called him and said, when I got engaged — I said, ‘Lorne, I just got engaged to Ariana Grande and we’ve been dating for two weeks’ and he said, ‘Oh! Hold on for dear life.

And then I remember when I auditioned for SNL, he looked me in the eye and said ‘I don’t think you’re right for this show — so let’s screw this up together.’ And that’s exactly what we did. That’s why people who think I don’t deserve this job shouldn’t hate me since we have so much in common…like if anything, I should inspire hope — that literally anyone could be on Saturday Night Live.

Thank you to Lorne for never giving up on me, and believing in me, and allowing me to have a place to call home with memories that will last a lifetime — thank you, guys

It was certainly an emotional sendoff as fans clearly loved seeing Pete Davidson being such a huge part of ‘SNL’ for the last 8 years. Davidson is moving onto bigger and better things in his life. We’ll have to see what’s next in store for Davidson, as he already has Kim Kardashian by his side.
