The ongoing legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has revealed numerous details about the two that fans were unaware of. Several well-known people have testified in the case. Now, Johnny’s associates have testified about the difficulties they had working with him.

According to CNN, Depp’s former talent agent, a former dear friend, and his former business manager testified Thursday in the ongoing defamation case between actress Amber Heard and her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, describing the strain on their relationships with the actor as his alleged substance abuse increased.

Tracey Jacobs, who testified in a recorded deposition, said she was Depp’s talent agent for 30 years and that he was “the biggest star in the world” at one point. According to Jacobs, Depp fired her about the same time he severed ways with other business associates.

Jacobs claimed that she told Depp that his habit of being late to sets and his actions, which included drug and alcohol abuse, was damaging his career. She claimed that Depp had to wear an earpiece on set to hear his lines.

“His star had dimmed due to it getting harder to get him jobs given the reputation that he’d acquired due to his lateness and other things. People were talking and the question was out there about his behavior.”

Depp claimed in his lawsuit that Heard‘s op-ed cost him jobs, including tens of millions of dollars he claimed he was due for the upcoming sixth “Pirates of the Caribbean” picture, which he would most likely not be a part of. Jacobs also stated that she had no recollection of Disney agreeing to cast Depp in the project. Depp was in a condition of “financial desperation” at one point, according to Jacobs, and requested the agency for $20 million.

Long-time Disney executive Tina Newman, whose deposition was recorded in February and aired for jurors on Thursday, said she did not recall seeing Heard’s op-ed and does not know if Depp is being considered for a role in the sixth “Pirates” movie.

“That’s above my head,” Newman admitted. “I just know it’s a project that’s possibly in development at the studio.” Jurors also heard a recorded deposition from Depp’s former business manager Joel Mandel, with whom Depp split up in 2016 and whose company Depp sued in 2017, accusing it of mismanaging his revenues.

In 2018, the lawsuit was settled. Mandel claimed that it got more difficult to work with Depp in 2010 due to his apparent regular usage of substances.

“What I had always experienced as someone who liked to enjoy his wine at the end of the day became consumption that seemed excessive. The ability to coordinate and find times when he would meet became more difficult. It became clear over time that there were issues with alcohol and drugs. And that translated into more erratic behavior, more stressful behavior, more times when it was difficult to engage in the kinds of conversation I needed to do my job.”

Mandel stated that he began raising his concerns about Depp’s “very dire financial circumstances” in 2015, adding that while Depp’s income was substantial, so was his spending. He claimed Depp once paid $300,000 per month to his workers.
Heard’s legal team has pointed out that some of Depp’s paid workers testified in his case against her, accusing them of supporting Depp because he pays them.

Ellen Barkin, an actress who has known Depp since 1990, testified that she was in a sexual relationship with him for several months in 1994. Barkin testified that Depp was intoxicated “most or a lot of the time” she was with him and that he was controlling and jealous. She recalled an event in a Las Vegas hotel room during which others were fighting.

“Mr. Depp threw a wine bottle across the room, the hotel room, in one instance in Las Vegas, while we were shooting ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.'”

Heard finished her testimony last week. The final week of testimony will begin in court on Monday. The case is nearing its conclusion, and it’s still quite complicated; let’s see what the judge decides. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
