Ric Flair will make his controversial return to the squared circle on July 31. The match is a part of the huge Starrcast wrestling convention that will invade the Nashville Fairgrounds during WWE’s SummerSlam weekend. The promoters of the convention have now announced that Ric Flair will be roasted just two days before he gets back into the ring.

A press release from Starrcast announced The Roast of Ric Flair on July 29. The Nature Boy will welcome other famous wrestling personalities to take shots at him live on stage. There should be no shortage of material to work with.

Event organizer Conrad Thompson said that Flair’s transcendent career deserves a roast. Ric is not just a wrestling legend but has become a pop culture phenomenon over the years. Now, his dearest friends will have an opportunity to take him to task.

“The last weekend in July is going to be Ric’s swan song in a professional wrestling ring, so what better way to send him off before his final match than giving him a proper roast? Ric’s career has transcended professional wrestling and made him a pop culture icon. You’ve seen his influence everywhere from sports to hip hop. He’s done it all, except get roasted by some of his dearest friends and the most talented comedians in the world. That all changes on July 29th.”
