Norman Reedus and his partner, Diane Kruger, had a baby girl over three years ago. The couple was thrilled with their new addition, but they were notoriously private about the details of her arrival. Norman and Diane went three years without revealing the little one’s name.

Diane and Norman finally let the world in on their secret recently. Speaking with People Magazine, Kruger talked about how they chose a very special name for their daughter. It meant so much to the couple that Diane Kruger has immortalized the process in a children’s book, ‘A Name from the Sky’.

Diane Kruger told People that they chose the name Nova Tennessee. Kruger’s name was unusual when she lived in Germany, and she often got made fun of for it. That’s why she took such great pains to choose a unique, meaningful moniker for the couple’s daughter.

“I remember coming home crying because kids were making fun of my name. It truly changed my life. And how I see myself today. I had her late in life at 42, and [Norman] had a child when he wa much younger. ‘Nova’ in Latin means new beginning, and a nova star keeps changing and is reborn. And we love Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains; we do motorcycle trips there.”

Norman Reedus also recently told TMZ that couples shouldn’t feel pressure to reveal details about their kids if they don’t think it’s appropriate. The “Walking Dead” star was asked about Kylie Jenner’s decision to keep her and Travis Scott’s infant’s name a secret. Reedus said they should do what feel right.

After three years, the world can finally officially welcome Nova Tennessee. Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus put a lot of thought into the name. Now that she is a little more grown-up, they thought it was time to introduce her to everybody.
