Chris Paul may have seen his best chance at an NBA Championship pass him by. The Phoenix Suns were heavily favored to run the playoff gauntlet and bring home a title. Instead, the Dallas Mavericks ruined those plans with a lopsided game seven victory to send Phoenix to the golf course.

Chris Paul only contributed ten points in his team’s loss. The humiliating defeat would be enough for the average NBA star to admit that they’ve had enough. CP3 is not about to go down that route.

In his postgame comments, Chris Paul discussed rumors about his retirement. Paul noted that the same rumors have been coming at the end of the season for years. He isn’t about to step away and plans to run it back next year.

“They said that last year. They probably said it back in ’08. Every time you lose, they’re gonna say it’s your best chance… But we’ll be back next year. I ain’t retiring tomorrow, thank God.”

The Suns should be a formidable contender again next season. That goes without saying that they were the odds-on favorites to win it all this year. Chris Paul doesn’t want his final run to be a wasted season.

Paul and the Suns will try again next year to bring home a championship. For now, he has the opportunity to get healthy and prepare to do it all over again. CP3 is hoping he doesn’t regret his decision.
