Kim Kardashian had everyone’s eyes on her as she arrived at the 2022 Met Gala. The fashion mogul looked stunning as she slipped into the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. Some aren’t loving this homage, but Monroe’s own estate is said to be here for it.

Kardashian was presented with a lock of Marilyn Monroe’s hair by officials with Ripley’s Believe It or Not! ahead of the event. In a clip shared on Instagram by the museum officials, Kim’s jaw dropped as she was presented with the historical memento, one that was protected in a circular metallic container.

Kardashian said upon receiving the treasure, “Oh, my God, I’m literally going to do some crazy voodoo sh*t [to] channel her,” She further said, “This is so special to me – thank you so much, this is so cool. Wow, this is sleeping with me every night.” In the clip, Kardashian had her dark locks sleekly pulled back into a bun while donning a grey tank top, a necklace and jeans.

Kardashian, who was accompanied to Met Gala by boyfriend Pete Davidson, donned the historic garment upon her entrance to the luxe event at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The gown has more than 2,500 handstitched crystals on it.

Kardashian later changed into a replica gown to continue the party. Ripley’s vice president of publishing and licensing, Amanda Joiner, told Us Weekly Tuesday, “I think we can all say that [Kim] looks beautiful in the dress,” Amanda further said that, “Obviously, we feel that Marilyn Monroe was such an icon of her time, and we feel that Kim Kardashian really is the fashion icon of today.”

Joiner also told the outlet that the company, which paid $4.6 million for the gown in 2016, was happy to collaborate with Kardashian for the annual pop culture event. Meanwhile, you can check out the clip posted on Instagram below.
