Tyrann Mathieu is Louisiana through and through. The Honey Badger was born in New Orleans and played his college ball at Louisiana State. Now, the most coveted free agent in this year’s NFL offseason is coming home.

The New Orleans Saints are expected to announce a deal to sign the All-Pro safety later this week. The news was first reported this morning by Ian Rapoport. Tyrann Mathieu will be a huge addition to the Saints as they look to bolster their roster after this year’s NFL Draft.

Mathieu started his career with the Arizona Cardinals and later spent one year in Houston. He most recently starred with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he became a Super Bowl champion. Now, he will try to bring a Lombardi Trophy to his home city.

Tyrann Mathieu has recorded 610 career tackles along with 26 interceptions. Honey Badger had a phenomenal season with the Chiefs last year. He can still play at the highest level, and New Orleans was the perfect landing spot for this year’s prize defensive free agent.
