Past three months have been very drama filled in pop culture which obviously make up for some good comedy material. Pete Davidson returned to standup and joked about just these things.

For the first time in three years, the SNL comedian took the stage to perform on the sold-out first night of Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival at the Hollywood Bowl with Dave Chappell and friends.

Davidson was a constant target of Kanye West’s harassment until a few weeks ago. He endured a lot of memes and insults thrown at him by Ye and whatnot. We also witnessed violence at Academy Awards ceremony. Davidson naturally ceased this opportunity to address these things in a funny manner on Thursday.

If you’re wondering why there is no video footage of this show, then the event’s website should make that very clear with a message on its main page.

This event will be a phone-free experience. Use of phones will not be permitted in the performance space. Upon arrival at the venue, phones will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests maintain possession of their devices at all times and can access them throughout the event only in designated Phone Use Areas within the venue. All devices will be re-secured in Yondr pouches before returning to the performance space. All pouches and equipment are routinely sanitized. The Yondr staff is trained and required to follow safety guidelines and hygiene protocols to practice social distancing, minimal contact, and wear required personal protective equipment.

Davidson referenced Chris Rock during his set, noting that he and Rock both had terrible things happened to them “before life was over.” Which is of course the slap that Rock received from Will Smith and for Davidson it was getting his head cut off by Kanye in “Eazy” visuals.

The jokes and witty punchlines continued as the show went on. Love him or hate him, Davidson does manage to put chuckle a on one’s face. Also it seems he is not mad about Kanye’s antics.
