Laine Hardy announced this morning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Details about what exactly the American Idol winner was accused of were sparse. We now know that the accusations are very serious.

TMZ reported that Laine was arrested today for allegedly placing a listening device in his ex-girlfriend’s dorm room. Louisiana State University Police issued a warrant for his arrest but did not release any further information. The department now says Laine was arrested and booked for interception and disclosure of wire, electronic, or oral communication.

Police noted that audio retrieved from the device captured Laine Hardy’s voice as he was placing it. Later, conversations between Hardy’s ex-girlfriend and mother talking about the couple’s breakup were found. Laine stated this morning that he did not want to discuss the matter due to its ‘sensitive nature.’

LSU initially refused to elaborate on the story. With Hardy keeping quiet, there was plenty of speculation. Nobody could have guessed that the baby-faced singer would have bugged his former flame.
