Kamala Harris is providing further proof that even the powerful are not immune to the COVID-19 pandemic. President Trump was gravely ill with the virus during his term. The sitting Vice President has now tested positive for COVID as well.

The White House confirmed Harris’ positive test result earlier today. The VP is currently asymptomatic and is taking steps to isolate to prevent the spread. Harris has not recently had any close contact with President Joe Biden or the First Lady.

Kristen Allen, press secretary for Kamala Harris, revealed the news. In a brief statement, she attempted to smooth over any worries that COVID might spread around the White House. It seems like everybody will be just fine.

“Today, Vice President Harris tested positive for Covid-19 on rapid and PCR tests. She has exhibited no symptoms, will isolate and continue to work from the vice president’s residence.

She has not been a close contact to the President or First Lady due to their respective recent travel schedules. She will follow CDC guidelines and the advice of her physicians. The Vice President will return to the White House when she tests negative.”

With restrictions being lifted across the United States, many have completely moved on. Harris’ positive test sheds light on the fact that this virus is still actively spreading. Fortunately, she has not become ill. Until she can test negative, there will be some tense moments around the White House.
