Cary Elwes became a cult hero after portraying Westley in the cult classic, “The Princess Bride.” Elwes’ film career spans decades, with several major roles along the way. Cary was recently taking a break from Hollywood to catch up on some yardwork. That routine task turned into a nightmare for Elwes.

TMZ reports that Cary was doing his spring lawn work when he was bitten by a rattlesnake. The incident occurred at Elwes Malibu home. It is not known where the snake bit Elwes, but it was enough for an emergency flight to the hospital.

It was reported that the injury was life-threatening. Fortunately, help arrived quickly and they were able to stabilize Cary Elwes. The actor is expected to make a full recovery.

Bad luck has followed Cary throughout his career. He was knocked out cold and broke a toe while shooting The Princess Bride. A bite from a venomous rattlesnake was much worse than both of those injuries, though.

Fortunately, Cary is on the road to recovery. If help had been summoned just minutes later, this could have ended in tragedy. Instead, it’s just another battle scar for one of Hollywood’s toughest stars.

Cary is currently filming “Rebel Moon” with Zack Snyder. The sci-fi flick will be a Netflix exclusive. There is no word on whether the bite will affect the shooting schedule. Cary Elwes is just happy he has a chance to make it back.
