Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal had one of the most remarkable careers in the NBA. While he was dominating the court, he had a personal life too. This is still a decision that is filled with regrets.

Shaq appeared on “The Pivot Podcast” this week and gave fans a bit of insight into his past relationships. He even took the blame for being responsible for his divorce from his then-wife, Shaunie O’Neal.

O’Neal married Shaunie Nelson in 2002; it was the time when the Hall of Famer was very active in the field. The pair had four children together. In 2007, O’Neal filed for divorce, but it was soon withdrawn, and the two got back together. However, that didn’t last much longer, as Shaunie filed for divorce in 2009. Their divorce was finalized in 2011.

As stated earlier, Shaq took all the blame for the divorce and had nothing but words of praise for his former wife. He is not interested in playing blame games.

“I had the perfect situation,” Shaq said. “Wife was finer than a mug. Kept giving me babies, still finer than a mug — I had it all.”

He added, “I don’t make excuses. I know I messed up.”

The divorce hit Shaq really hard. He admitted to feeling lonely in his mansion after playing his last season in NBA, the 2010-2011 season. “I was lost. 76,000 square-foot house by yourself. Lost,” Shaq said.

He also stated that his divorce is one of the three biggest regrets in his life, which continue to haunt him to this day. Check out the full interview below.
