Will Smith has been dominating the headlines since slapping Chris Rock on stage at this weekend’s Oscars. Rock made a joke about the bald head of Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The Fresh Prince star initially laughed, but once he saw that Jada was upset, he stormed the stage and slapped the comedian in the face.

The backlash came in many forms. Fans have been trolling Will Smith non-stop. Other Hollywood celebrities have also weighed in on the matter. Now, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is considering their response.

Retired NBC exec and Hollywood Insider Mike Sington noted that a meeting was being held by The Academy to discuss what to do about the Will Smith incident. If the report is to be believed, Will could be joining some infamous company. A ban from future Oscar ceremonies as well as a revocation of his Academy membership is on the table.

“Full board meeting of Academy being held tomorrow to discuss disciplinary action against Will Smith, who violated their Code of Conduct. Most likely action: Banned from future Oscars, & having his Academy membership revoked, which they did to Bill Cosby, Weinstein, & Polanski.”

Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, and Roman Polanski were all blackballed by the Academy after accusations of sexual assault. Will Smith didn’t go that far, but what he did to Chris Rock constitutes physical assault. Will’s days as a member of the Academy could be numbered.

It is a good thing Will Smith took home an Oscar this weekend. It might be the last chance he ever has. The Academy could very well be on their way to completely excluding Smith from any further association with the show.
