Jay-Z threw Oscar after-party despite the disapproval of several unions from Hollywood. The Gold party hosted by him saw many of Hollywood’s biggest names attend the event right after the Academy Awards ceremony. However, it was met by a big protest.

The party at the famed Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood was greeted by frustrated former hotel employees who claimed they were mistreated by management.

On Sunday evening, March 27, protesters erected a massive “Boycott” logo in blade lettering of the Chateau Marmont’s driveway. Folks like Rihanna, Saweetie, Kim Kardashian, and Diddy had to make their way through angry disruptors to attend the party hosted by power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé.

Prior to the party, Jay-Z for received a massive backlash for choosing the said venue. The backlash was driven by the local hotel workers’ union, over the Chateau Marmont’s alleged treatment of employees with claims such as racial discrimination and sexual harassment.

The party continued despite the protest. Janelle Monáe and Saweetie were also invited at the event. Among others were, Emily Ratajkowski, Daniel Kaluuya, Kim Kardashian, Timothée Chalamet, Rosario Dawson, Michael B. Jordan, Mindy Kaling, Tiffany Haddish, Tyler Perry, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Zoe Kravitz.
