In the current hip-hop scene, Doja Cat is titled one of the top female rappers; however, she recently made headlines when she announced she is quitting music. Amid Doja’s announcement, Remy Ma made some comments against her which outraged fans. Her remarks sparked a cascade of varying responses on Twitter.

As reported earlier, Remy Ma said on Drink Champs podcast that she doesn’t think Doja cat is a rapper. “I don’t think she’s a rapper. Let’s be clear with that. They put her in the rapper category, I don’t think she’s a rapper. But she makes dope records, and I think she’s dope,” Remy said.

Fans took to Twitter expressing their anger at Remy’s views while a noticeable amount of people also agreed with her. That being said, overall, her comments aren’t received very well. “Lol, a gun to my head and they tell me to mention 10 remy ma songs,I’m definitely kicking the bucket. She should rest!,” tweeted one fan.

“I’m sorry but y’all she’s right.. Beyoncé raps sometimes det makes her a female rapper? Nicki Sings sometimes makes her a pop star.. same applies for doja she is a pop star not a rapper,” wrote a fan describing the differences between her style and the rap genre.

“Remy Ma saying Doja Cat isnt a rapper just pissed me off. Bitch are YOU a rapper? What was the last song YOU released?,” another tweet read.

Twitter users are recognizing that integrating different genres into hip-hop/rap music doesn’t outright label the artist as just a rapper, hence the mixed responses as seen below.

As of writing this, the two are trending on the social media platform as fans continue to debate the subject. We will continue monitoring this ongoing situation here at Thirsty.
