Andrew Whitworth announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this week. The Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle left fans with a heartfelt video letting them know it was time to say goodbye. Whitworth went out on top, fulfilling a childhood dream.

During the post-game celebration after the Rams won Super Bowl LVI, cameras caught Whitworth having an emotional moment with his family. An NFL Films crew picked up a conversation Andrew had with his kids on the field in the aftermath. It was a truly touching moment.

“That’s pretty cool, huh? Thank y’all so much. I love y’all. Listen to me. Are you listening? That was daddy’s last football game. That’s it. No more. I’m going to be home with you guys, OK?

I promise, I’m going to be a better dad. Be around more. I’m going to coach the crap out of you boys! We’re gonna have some fun!”

Andrew Whitworth retired on top. That is not to say he didn’t have an impressive career. Whitworth was a four-time Pro Bowler, a two-time first-team All-Pro, and won the 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.

Of all the stories that came out of Super Bowl LVI, Andrew Whitworth’s might be the most inspiring. Whitworth had a true fairy tale end to an accomplished career. Everyone at Thirsty wishes Andrew and his family the happiest of retirements!
