Jay Z and co-founder of Roc-A-Fella records, Damon Dash, have been battling it out in the court; all of this surrounds the one remaining album of Hov’s that he does not own. The old friends might not be on good terms, but it seems their legal battle pertaining Reasonable Doubt and Dame’s stake in Roc-A-Fella could be coming to an end.

According to AllHipHop, Jay Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro told a judge that both parties are in the middle of discussing settlement. The settlement in discussion is regarding a lawsuit Jay filed against his former business partner. The lawsuit accuses Dame of trying to mint Jay-Z’s debut album Reasonable Doubt as an NFT.

“The parties are in the process of meeting and conferring to determine whether they can reach an agreement that would obviate the need for [Roc-A-Fella Records, Inc.] to file the motion [for a permanent injunction],” Spiro wrote in a memo. “And the parties are also in the process of meeting and conferring to determine whether they can reach a settlement agreement that would resolve this case.”

Alex Spiro confirmed that the letter was sent to a Judge with the authorization Dame Dash and GoDigitalRecords LLC. However, he made it clear that Jay Z plans to seek permanent injunction against Dame if they can’t reach a settlement.

“Plaintiff Roc-A-Fella Records, Inc. intends to file a post-discovery motion for summary judgment seeking entry of a permanent injunction preventing defendant Damon Dash from altering in any way, selling, assigning, pledging, encumbering, contracting with regard to, or in any way disposing of any property interest in the album Reasonable Doubt, including its copyright and including through any means, such as auctioning a non-fungible token (NFT) reflecting, referring, or directing such interest,” Spiro wrote.

The two founded Roc-A-Fella records in 1995. Dame Dash has been trying to cash out his stake in the label and has explained that he wasn’t seeking to sell Reasonable Doubt as an NFT. According to Dame him trying to sell his stake is the real reason for Jay’s lawsuit.
