Sydney Sweeney Calls Out Fake Reports About Her Euphoria Skin Scenes

Sydney Sweeney stars as Cassie Howard in HBO’s teen drama series Euphoria. She revealed a few months ago that Sam Levinson is fine with making changes to a scene where nudity isn’t absolutely necessary. This is still a big talking point within the fanbase who somehow get through those cringe-worthy scenes time and time again.

In a new interview with Teen Vogue, Sweeney clarified her comments about some of the nude scenes she shot for Euphoria. In the end, Euphoria’s presentation is thanks to Sam Levinson, the mind behind the series.

While many outlets misinterpreted Sweeney’s request as her character’s “unnecessary” topless scenes being cut from the show, the 24-year-old actress told Teen Vogue that was not the case. Sydney emphasized how ‘respectful’ Sam is and how he respected her boundaries as a performer.

“I never asked him to cut any scenes. It got twisted and turned and it became its own beast, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God.'”

“It was more how respectful Sam is and how incredible of a director he is, that he would never make me do something I didn’t feel comfortable with.”

“I think it’s important to the storyline and the character. There’s a purpose to what that character is going through. That’s the character. We all get naked in real life. We show this character’s life and what they’re going through. Cassie’s body is a different form of communication for her.”

Sydney’s comments come after she revealed in a January interview that there were times when Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and how she would tell Sam that she didn’t think the scene was necessary, and how he quickly agreed with her, saying they didn’t need the scene anymore. She went on to say that the show’s creator did everything he could to make her feel safe.

Sweeney isn’t the only one who has spoken out about the hit HBO Max series’ use of nudity. Minka Kelly recently spoke with Vanity Fair about how her dissatisfaction with a planned nude scene prompted writer-creator Sam Levinson to rewrite the scene.
