Minka Kelly plays the mother who hired Maddy (Alexa Demie) as her son’s babysitter in the second season of the hit HBO drama. Minka Kelly discusses her interaction with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson about her character’s scheduled naked scene.

Kelly revealed in a recent interview with Vanity Fair that a nude scene was planned for her character, who hired Maddy as her son’s babysitter, until Kelly voiced her reservations. The actress revealed that she was given only a vague description of her role at first, which amounted to a paragraph of dialogue.

That can be frustrating and can throw some people off, but I actually trust and feel safe with a director who’s not afraid to change his mind. At the end of the day, the goal is what ends up on-screen. We’re all here to facilitate his vision. [Levinson] thought it would be more interesting if my dress fell to the ground. That was my first day as a guest on this new show, and I just didn’t feel comfortable standing there naked.

The Friday Night Lights alum, 41 also revealed that during her pivotal pool scene with Demie, Levinson was rewriting lines on the spot. She then recalled objecting to a scenario in which her character was undressed. Kelly claims that her suggestions were simply accommodated.

The Parenthood actress suggested to them that she would love to perform that scene, but she wanted to keep her dress on. Levinson didn’t even pause to think about it. And he got exactly what he desired by shooting a stunning scene.

HBO and Levinson’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In a recent interview with The Independent, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney (Cassie), whose character has appeared topless, revealed a similar anecdote regarding planned nude scenes for season two.
