Joe Budden is among those celebrities that always voice their opinion on things around pop culture, because it is his job as a podcaster. He has been part of several headlines this year concerning female rappers. Now he has decided to take shots at Megan Thee Stallion.

On a recent episode of Budden’s podcast, he vented his anger towards Megan. He pointed out her position in the rap game and disagreed with fans who say that she is a superstar. Budden then went on to clarify that Album sales don’t equal to the status of being a superstar.

“You’re not a superstar if you can’t sell an album, what the f**k are we talking about right now? What stops her from being a superstar if we’re taking out sales? She ain’t sold sh*t. Got every brand deal in the world, but also has all the backing from different people. She’s got a lot going on. That’s the game today.”

Budden’s reasoning comes from the fact that marketing development in recent years has made it easy for artists to get more brand deals than ever. According to him, the effortless way of getting access to marketing is not how the status of a superstar is decided.

Griselda has a lot going on (too). There’s mad artists that have a lot going on, your management team as got to be a whole f**king team of people. You got to have a team of know-it-all people.”

Budden realizes that to be able to sell albums; you have to be smart on how you plan your album release. He also mentioned how artists like Meg and Lil Nas X don’t garner the same attention with their releases as Adele.

“Y’all are just making rules up. You still got to know how to sell a f**king album. When Adele come out, you gotta move. When n****s come out, you gotta move. When a superstar comes out, you mortal, mere minion n****s have to move. Nobody does that for Lil Nas X, nobody does that for the seven Meg Thee Stallion releases that dropped over the past two years. What are we saying?”

It appears Budden wants the new artist to realize that album sales don’t always equate to the trait of being a superstar.
