Kyrie Irving’s season-long absence will soon come to an end. Irving sat out the entire season to this point after refusing to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. The Brooklyn Nets recently relented and will allow Kyrie to participate in road games.

The Nets have been on fire through the first quarter of the NBA season. They boast a 23-12 record thus far. That stellar mark comes without one of their best players.

Irving will make his return to the Nets lineup tonight against the Indiana Pacers. There have been questions as to whether Kyrie’s return will disrupt the team’s chemistry. Kevin Durant says he doesn’t see it that way. He shared his thoughts on Kyrie Irving’s comeback with “The Etcs.

“With us getting ravaged by COVID, and us down so many bodies, it felt like the perfect time to add a fresh body back into the equation. Adding Kyrie to the equation just makes us so much better as a team. He was down, we were down, it was pretty simple, to be honest.”

Durant has been forced to take on more minutes than his aging body can sustainably handle. The team has faced a ton of adversity through the league-wide COVID-19 outbreak. KD is ready to have his teammate back.

It will likely take several games for Kyrie to round into the form Nets fans are used to. NBA viewers will be watching closely to see how he performs. Irving himself seems ready to go. It’s been a long wait.
