The Los Angeles Lakers have had a rough season. The team has had to deal with countless setbacks. They just can’t find their chemistry.

LeBron James was injured, and there is never a good time for that to happen. Then he popped a false positive COVID test. Russell Westbrook has struggled to fit in. The team (and league) have been decimated by the fast-spreading Omicron variant of COVID-19.

One of the bright spots has been the spirited efforts of Isaiah Thomas. He was brought in on a ten-day contract to fill the gap as players recovered. Thomas averaged over 9 points per game in his limited role. According to shams Charania of The Athletic, his stay will be a short one.

“The Lakers and Isaiah Thomas won’t do a second 10-day contract, making him a free agent, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Multiple teams are expected to express interest in Thomas, who averaged 9.3 points in four games for Lakers.”

Isaiah has looked very sharp in his limited action. The ten-day contract may wind up functioning as a tryout. There are plenty of other teams around the Association who could use a point guard with NBA experience.

The virus will continue to disrupt rosters around the league. It is terrible for fans whose teams are affected by the shuffling. For players like Isaiah Thomas, it is the opportunity of a lifetime.

Do you think Isaiah Thomas will find a spot somewhere else in the NBA? Let us know in the comments!
