Kamala Harris made history when she became the first woman (and the first person of color) to hold the office of Vice President of the United States. She played a key role in helping Joe Biden end the chaotic presidency of Donald Trump. Since then, she’s been a lightning rod for criticism.

Critics of the Biden administration have wondered how the Democratic party can continue to allow Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) to hold up Biden’s agenda. Many believe that Biden should use the bully pulpit to push for progress. The Biden administration has thus far refused to do so.

Vice President Harris recently appeared on “Tha God’s Honest Truth” with the rapper. He asked the VP why the administration was allowing one man from a thinly-populated state so much power. He questioned whether Manchin was truly the President. Harris snapped back immediately.

“Come on, Charlamagne. It’s Joe Biden. No, no, no, no. It’s Joe Biden. And don’t start talking like a Republican, asking whether or not he’s president. It’s Joe Biden. And I’m vice president and my name is Kamala Harris. And the reality is because we are in office, we do things like the child tax credit, which is going to reduce Black child poverty by 50 percent.

It is the work of saying we’re going to get lead out of pipes and paint because our babies are suffering because of that. It is the work of saying people who ride public transit deserve the same kind of dignity that anybody else does. So, let’s improve that system. I hear the frustration, but let’s not deny the impact that we’ve had and agree also that there is a whole lot more work to be done and it is not easy to do. But we will not give up and I will not give up.”

Vice President Harris is proud of the achievements of the administration. Charlamagne and many other Democrats believe they have failed to deliver on their promise of a progressive platform. With a key mid-term election looming in 2022, time could be running out for the Biden agenda.
