Henry Cavill might come across as the standard hunky-hero, but he’s known to have many different areas of interest. Along with being a hard worker in the gym, Cavill is known to be a huge gamer, and The Witcher 3 was already one of his favorite games prior to bagging the role.

Cavill is apparently so invested in the character of Geralt that he even helped design his costume for the show’s upcoming season. The actor worked closely with costume designer Lucinda Wright in order to find the perfect look for his character.

In an interview with Netflix, the Man of Steel actor revealed that the new armor makes activity really easy. As Geralt of Rivia, Cavill’s character has to do a lot of action sequences and sword-swinging.

It’s a new look, and the redesign has made it a lot easier for me to move and fight. I helped to design [it] with our wonderful costume designer, Lucinda Wright, and we put a lot of work into it in quite a short space of time…Geralt had to find new armor, but he hadn’t had the opportunity to stop anywhere to buy armor or make it, so he delved into the dungeons of Kaer Morhen and found something very old and from a different era, but still serviceable.

The first season of the show featured a lot of non-linear storytelling while staying loyal to the books. With the second season approaching, Geralt will be teaching a young mutant how to use the powers, which is continually faithful to Sapkowski’s Blood of Elves.
