After Sunday’s Canadian Football League playoff game between the Toronto Argonauts and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, things got heated between the team and fans. A TiCats fan allegedly spit beer on the Argos players as they left the field. Video from the scene shows several Argos players confronting the fans as the situation escalated.

SportsNet has reported that a police investigation is under way. There is no further information available other than what fans can see in the social media videos. The CFL is also investigating the incident.

“Toronto Police say they are investigating an incident after the Toronto Argonauts’ CFL playoff game on Sunday after video emerged on social media showing Argos players in an altercation with a Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan.

Police told Sportsnet they have no further information on the investigation.

A CFL spokesperson said the league is aware of the incident and is reviewing it.”

Hamilton topped Toronto 27-19 to advance. Instead of celebrating, their fans acted in a very disrespectful manner. Fortunately, things didn’t get too out of control.

Time will tell whether action is taken against any of the Toronto players involved. There’s no word on if any arrests were made. The usually polite Canadian fans have proven that they can get rowdy just as much as an NFL crowd.

What do you think of the Toronto Argonaut’s reaction to being spit on by a fan? Let us know in the comments!
