While actor Matthew McConaughey recently revealed that he will no longer be running for Governor of Texas, it seems Dr. Mehmet Oz has different ideas. It seems the famous writer, surgeon and television personality is set to enter into the world of politics.

As reported earlier, Dr. Mehmet Oz plans on running for the U.S. Senate seat in Pennsylvania. It was said that Dr. Oz has just made a multi-million dollar media buy in the state. It was to push his impending candidacy.

According to TMZ, Dr. Oz’s decision to run for office means his TV fans in several major cities won’t see his show for at least the next 11 months or perhaps forever. It was said that “The Dr. Oz Show” will be taken off the air in all Pennsylvania markets.

This includes Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and the capital of Harrisburg. Cities neighboring the Pennsylvania area are also taking out the show, including the #1 TV market of NYC, and at least one midwestern city. It was all about fairness to other candidates as people in Pennsylvania can pick up Fox in NYC.

It comes down to the FCC’s equal time doctrine. It was said that executives are concerned about providing each candidate the same amount of air time, as there isn’t enough time for all the candidates if Oz’s show stays on.

The show will keep airing in other American states but with guest hosts while he’s busy on the campaign trail. It was also said that Oz may make the announcement Tuesday night on FNC’s “Hannity.” We will have to wait and see whether Dr. Oz will have a successful run in the political world or not.
