Cobie Smulders first appeared in the MCU in The Avengers as Maria Hill. Smulders has since then reprised her role alongside Samuel L. Jackson’s Agent Nick Fury in many of the Avengers films, Captain America: Winter Soldier & even Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Smulders will be reprising her role in the upcoming series, Marvel’s Secret Invasion, as per Deadline. While MCU takes off into Phase 4, the Disney+ mini-series’ are establishing many characters into a finer light.
Secret Invasion is one of the key storylines in Marvel comics. The series is a crossover event, where the enemy is a race of shape-shifting aliens who have been infiltrating major organizations, and even S.H.I.E.L.D for many years.
The series also features a cast of Ben Mendelsohn, reprising his role as Skrull Talos, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Christopher McDonald and Killian Scott. It also makes for the first series to welcome Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke into the MCU.
The How I Met Your Mother actress most recently received critical praise for her performance in American Crime Story: Impeachment. She portrayed American conservative media pundit, Ann Coulter.
