Netflix’s Squid Game has taken the world by storm, as it has now become the streaming platform’s most successful show yet. It was also said that Netflix paid $21.4 million for Squid GameBeing a big trending topic right now, it was certain the show was going to get parodied. Now it seems a streamer has been harassed because of his name.

The South Korean survival drama has grossed more views than 111 million views already. Just a few days after becoming the biggest show on Netflix, the show earned almost $900 million for Netflix. It even had a council in English concerned recently.

As reported earlier, the show’s massive success and demand led to internet service providers demanding more money. This was due to a higher rate of bandwidth consumption. As expected, their demands were met with ridicule.

United Kingdom-based streamer SquidGame, whose real name is Lydia, has been a streamer for a decade now under the names “SquidGaming” and “SquidGame.” Despite that, she has been receiving a lot of harassment due to her name being the same as the hit Netflix series.

While speaking to BBC News, Lydia talked about how the explosion in popularity of the Netflix show has led to her being on the receiving end of constant harassment from fans. She also lost out on job opportunities and even had her Instagram banned.

“I’ve received a lot of hate from the fans and I’ve been turned down for work because of it [the name]. I started getting abusive messages from people. People were getting angry with me because they were mega fans… and thought I took the account from the show.

I had to turn off notifications on my Instagram because it was just constant. My phone has been flooded.”

Ellery’s condition is so horrible right now that she is even considering changing her name to avoid harassment. She worked hard to build up her Twitch channel, but now she has to compete with the mammoth Netflix show. We hope she will get into a better position, regardless of what she decides in the end.
